Ok- NO I AM NOT PREGNANT!Ha!I laughed so hard when I read your comments!I was only half awake, stumbling around my room at 6 AM here in Bakersfield.Nope- I just said "mommy" because it sounded, as they say across the pond, "cheeky"....guess it didn't translate in a blog.I had a blast in Bakersfield - got to eat and have a private tour of Buck Owens Crystal Palace...pretty cool.He saved everything his whole life, so the place was filled with great pictures and memorabilia...made me wish I was better about saving that stuff.I never even saved a gold or platinum record! All my awards and stuff - no idea where any of it is...never cared, really.I didn't become a musician for sales or awards - just did it because that's what I felt like I was built to do, but as I get older, I start to realize how neat it all is. It certainly doesn't mean I'm great, but it's just a neat year book of my life, as it were...so much of my career was just spent fighting and struggling, that it was hard to step back and enjoy it - and I really tried to never take my success personal - you know?I never let it go to my head that a record worked, or if a record failed - I just tried to always focus on my job, which was listening to the music, and being a good steward of the music I hear in my head...it always felt like an awesome task to stick up for and fight for music, wherever it led me, and if I got an award it seemed strange, because I only felt like a vehicle.I never felt like it was me creating it - I just tried to get better and better at hearing what was in my head, and getting out of the way, so the purity of it wouldn't get diluted...i dunno - but seeing all those cool pictures, it made me wish I had at least taken some pictures along the way!I mean, I sang at the Vatican for Pope John Paul!I got to sing with BB King and share a stage with Bob Dylan.I opened solo acoustic in front of Neil Young and Crazy Horse at Madison Square Garden, and open for Johnny Cash at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, and sing with Merle Haggard on the CMAs.I ate lunch with President Clinton in the White House- and i didn't even take a picture!I gotta get better!

I gotta get better!I do have a bootleg of me singing with Dylan.I will post it for you guys - it's real grainy, but you can hear it...but what you can't see is that when we got done singing Bob gave me a noogie!Yeah- I got a noogie from Bob Dylan. It was so strange - it was so sweet and kinda paternal. He was so good to me on that tour - so encouraging and he even quoted my own lyrics to me - pointing out certain phrases he liked! It was awesome...he really encouraged me to keep doing what I was doing, at a time when my first CD was not selling and no one seemed to like it.Good thing I kept going, because it finally did catch on!Anyway, I will have Mr BB post the bootleg of Dylan and I. At least I have some kind of way to remember it!Oh, also, I will definitely post some pics of me feeding the cows - and a pic of ty...when i get back home.I'm glad you guys enjoyed that story.Hope it didn't depress all of you!I didn't mean to make so many folks cry!But I'm glad you enjoyed it - I will try to write another short story soon.I'm on my way to LA to visit a station quickly, then on to Vegas!Xx Jewel
