*There is NOTHING greater, more powerful and heartfelt than a mother's love for her children.?I wrote this for my mom, last year and am reposting it with the original comments intact.?For most of you this will be new.?Anyone who already commented it last year, can throw down new thoughts if they wish...otherwise let it ride.?To ALL loving mothers out there?I say Cheers!??Have a very Happy Mother's Day.POEM FOR MOM
?Mom, I just wanted to tell you
how much you mean to me.
But words are simply not enough,
even when they come easily. You were a child having a child,
at the?tender age of sixteen.I can picture a pang of uncertainty,
the very first time you held me.
?
?I can imagine my teenage mother,
peering into my crib at night.Singing sweet, lilting lullabies,
to welcome each ray of light. When I think of all you gave up,
even dropping out of school.Giving up your own small dreams,
to paint my life with loving hues.Believe it or not I remember still,
your warm and loving touch. |
Believe it or not I remember still,
your warm and loving touch. You may not have had much money,
but you gave me, oh so much.I think back to my first day of school,
so much excitement, but I was scared. You held me tight in your arms,
and drove me all those miles there. You might not have been prepared,
for parenthood and all its chores.Still, you made up games, made me laugh,
as if you'd reached your intended shore. We grew together, Mother and Son,
also as "buds", good friends. You never missed a football game,
the loudest voice in the stands.I'm not certain that you'll ever know,
just how much you mean to me.
You made me what I am today,
and fueled?my creativity. When I look upon my three boys,
I know they wouldn't be here.If you hadn't given birth to me,
and overcome a young mother's fears. And so I offer these words to you,
there is little more I can say.Except, I love you Mom with all my heart,
have a happy Mother's Day.?copyright 2007, 5?J Raymond Davis |
