My Daughter
Please know that yours is not a lost cause chipping away, desiring to be set free from life's mediocrity. You will sidestep those horrid, barren gulley's those concerns ascending though purity's tears from here, you will climb still further up through the mist toward heaven's gate,
Where some have fallen, and some have paused like stone statues chiseled by unkind wind, you smile with inner beauty etched in quartz like light,
You will face cold stone's glare and find anchor within your heartBeyond knowing and the known, beyond today, beyond tomorrow's hand and life's tumultuous hold, by the status quo,
There is always the memory of You in full beauty unknown to the masses.copyrightcja2008

My daughter is one of my heroes...she had a hard time during early education due to a learning disability like dyslexia and felt defeated so often by the school system which did not understand what a learning disability was.For years we worked hard and were blessed that a psychologist who tested her knew what was needed since this disability had just been recognized.Years of tutoring and hard work together, she fought to overcome this thing that so many of her teachers attributed it to an inability to be a college bound student....But that was not going to happen. She was a gifted and intelligent child with a strength inside.I must say in her adolescent years, she had to fight a low self-esteem because her grades were never in the A/B range as her girl friends. But I always told her you are someone who will change the world around you.Fight for what you want.Today, she is a wonderful mother and wife. She is considered one of the best educators in the county and she has never looked back. She has accomplished her goals receiving her Master's,?National Boards, which is hard work and many teachers do not attempt to reach this goal..she continued to receive a second Master's in gifted cirriculum and is now working toward in Phd. |
She has accomplished her goals receiving her Master's,?National Boards, which is hard work and many teachers do not attempt to reach this goal..she continued to receive a second Master's in gifted cirriculum and is now working toward in Phd.Am I bragging, well yes.But the thing that makes me the proudest is she could have given up a million times and just met the statuesque. Her drive to excel and to help students want to learn had been her motivation. As I told her at the age of eight years old.You can do anything in this world if you are willing to do the hard work and look at yourself as someone who has something to give.?She has and I admire her.Learning disabilities have run on my side of the family and it is something that one chooses to overcome.Mediocrity was never an option for the women in our family.I hope any parent who has a child struggling in school will be determined to find out what it is and do all that you can to help your child.Even if it means time and resources help your child to become all that he/she can be.As a parent we owe our children an education and to help them reach outside a society which accepts mediocrity. |
