| For those of you who may be new to the scene, the Group Blogging Experience (a.k.a. GBE) is a the internet blog group facilitated by Alicia?on a weekly basis.She gives you a general topic usually by Tuesday, then you have all week to work up your own interpretation of it - sky's the limit.?By Saturday, everyone posts their blogs and?Alicia links them all through her blog.Any questions, just click on her link and ask!This weeks GBE topic is Taking a stand, suggested by my dear friend Taina.Today is the first part of a three part blog.When I first heard the topic, I immediately thought about taking a stand for God, Family and Country but??instead of writing one long blog, I have decided to break it up into 3 short messages.?This blog?will focus on God and his 2 commandments.?Two commandments you ask??i guess you were looking for 10 commandments eh??Nah, just 2 really....?New Living Translation - Passage Matthew 22:35-45:35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36 "Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?"???37 Jesus replied, "'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b] 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."There you have it folks.?Two commandments.So let me zero in on the 2nd commandment.I am appalled at the way the internet and Youtube are being used as media to hurt and abuse people.I'm sure you heard of the teenagers in Florida who mercilessly beat another teenaged girl in an effort to post it on Youtube.?Apparantly, they had gotten into a the internet feud and it escalated from there.I am absolutely fed up and disgusted.?Folks we need to take a stand against this abuse by loving and caring for each other, by?teaching our kids and those in our sphere of influence to do the same.We dont solve the problem by focusing on the problem, we solve it by focusing on the solution.? |
| We dont solve the problem by focusing on the problem, we solve it by focusing on the solution.?I realize there is more to it than this?and my stance is rather simplistic but when the dust settles, it really is about loving each other and treating each other with kindness and compassion.We are more than just blogs.... we are people....human "beings" not human "doings".?Last week I took time to visit your pages, get to know your kids and loved ones through your pictures and I asked people their names if all I knew was their profile name.?I was so convicted that even though I blog with you almost daily, for many of you, I did not even know your name.?To love each other as we love ourselves we have to stretch beyond our comfort zone.We have to practice kindness and we have to learn to love in a tangible way.?How will you know that I care if i don't tell you?and how can I call myself a Christian if i cant follow 2 simple commandments?For the record, I still have profile pages to visit and questions to ask so be patient with me - but know that from the bottom of my heart, i care and I want to make a difference just like I know you do too.This is not an attempt to solicit accolades or mushy comments, I really can feel the love from those who are closest to me and we dont have to plaster it in a comment to get the point accross -email messages work just as well ( smile).- This is what is on my heart and you asked me to take a stand, right?So get involved with the teens in your sphere of influence on the internet.Send them an encouraging message.Invite them to be your friend and urge them to participate in the blog group to vent their feelings.Let us love each other and set the example.... love is contagious - catch the spirit.Care about each other and if you sense something is wrong with a friend then lovingly ask what you can do to help.?We are a community -this GBE, growing by the minute -what will we stand for?In closing I really hope you watch this 4 minute video.It says everything I really want to say so much better.Remember you are loved.Laurie Ann
